The good news in my sermon this past Sunday is that, in Christ, God draws near to our broken family systems, our traumatized genealogies, our shameful histories… and saves us by fully identifying with us, becoming a child of humanity, born of a woman so that we can become children of God, born of the Spirit, inheriting every good promise from our good Father.
I believe God is meeting us this Advent in the middle of whatever mess we find ourselves in, to work salvation and instill an unshakable hope for redemption.
Where do you need God to meet you and instill hope? I invite you to take 60 seconds to hold that situation before God in your heart right now, and pray the Collect for the Third Sunday of Advent:
Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
May God stir up expectant hope in your soul this Advent.
In Christ,
Fr. Ben
