The Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis (IndyDio) requires that all churches’ lay volunteers, including anyone serving on Sundays, complete the Safe Church online training and pass a background check every 3 years. We recognize the demand this places on those who already give their time every Sunday and throughout the week. But as The Table grows and matures, these policies will become increasingly important to provide a safe community for the whole congregation and remind us what being a Safe Church means within IndyDio.
We’re asking all volunteers to complete this roughly 4-hour training as soon as possible. This can be done either online at your own pace or attending a group training session on October 11 from 9am-1pm in the Reception Hall, which will include lunch. To attend please let Alissa Birkel (alissa.birkel@gmail.com) know you will be available. If you’re a volunteer and haven’t completed this training, we ask that you email our Church Administrator Peter (admin@thetableindy.org) to create your user account on Praesidium, IndyDio’s training platform and provide specifics.
We appreciate the time all our volunteers give to the church but also want to recognize this time as a form of offering and a tangible act of living together in God’s love. Also, if you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, please, speak to any pastor or Vestry member to help connect you to the right people.
