Good People of The Table,
Many weeks the pastoral letter is a meditation on the homily from Sunday, or an informational update, but today I’d like to share some personal updates and prayer requests.
As a reminder, Fr. Ben and I will be in Louisville starting Saturday, June 22nd for the 81st General Convention of the Episcopal Church. We’ll be there as Episcopal clergy, and will also be hosting a booth for the organization we run bivocationally, Gravity Commons. We’re hoping to connect with other Episcopalians around the kind of sacramental spiritual formation we do at The Table to work with other people and churches who have a desire to see that take root in their life and church.
Will you pray for us while we are there? You can pray specifically for:
- Spiritual and personal refreshment. We will be participating in a revival service (!!), Morning Prayer and Eucharist services, as well as “church business” meetings. We’ll be meeting new colleagues from around the country.
- The election of our new Presiding Bishop during the Convention. Here’s the list of candidates if you’re interested to learn more.
- Gravity Commons to traction with new churches and people. The last 8 years or so – basically from the time we started Gravity Commons – has coincided with a massive shift among Christians and churches in the U.S. We would benefit from being connected to people who want to rethink and recommit to spiritual formation in everyday life.
As a reminder, this Sunday (June 23) our worship gathering will be a service of Morning Prayer led by Mallory Ruark and Jon Crawford. We look forward to being back with you next Sunday. Thank you for your prayers!
God bless you all richly in love, joy, and peace,
Fr. Matt
