A smattering of info for your inbox:
1. Church Potluck is this Sunday (Aug 11) at Scott and Alicia Leming’s house (8418 Castle Farms Rd). The Lemings will provide smoked pulled pork for us to enjoy. Please bring a dessert or side dish and/or drinks to share with others. If you ave any questions, you can email Scott.
2. On Sunday I talked about the “fivefold ministry” that Paul references in Ephesians 4. Here are some articles to learn more about each of the gifts Paul mentions:
3. We are aiming to move into our new church building at 46th & Emerson at the beginning of October. If you’re interested in helping us get organized to move in, you can email Fr. Ben.
4. We plan to start a “Faith & Politics” class in September as we seek to ready ourselves for a contentious political season this fall with the election. This class will involve some embodiment exercises and practices as we learn how to identify and face the ways in which hostility, conflict, and fear involve our bodies. The class will also include some history of U.S. politics, some political theology (i.e. how Christians should show up in the public square), and some resources/organizing of how to deal with potential fall-out or crisis due to the results of the election. Stay tuned for start date and syllabus on this!
