Our Annual Congregational Meeting is Sunday, February 2nd at 9am in the Parish Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend (we will also provide a Zoom link). One of the important tasks we’ll be doing as a church that morning is voting on a slate of new nominees to join our Vestry (all members in good standing are eligible to serve on the Vestry, as well as vote at the Annual meeting).
The congregation was invited to put names forward last fall, and the slate of nominees is selected each year by a committee comprised of:
- the two outgoing Vestry members,
- at least two other members in good standing, and
- one of our Co-Vicars.
This year’s committee was Marissa Crawford (member), Brent Croxton (outgoing Vestry member), MaryEllen Pitts (outgoing Vestry member), Clay Purswell (member), Spencer Ruark (Co-Vicar), and Roxanne Shimek (member).
The final step in this process will be for members to vote on the slate of nominees at our Annual Meeting (the vote is Yes/No on the slate as a whole). To ensure a transparent and trustworthy process, our bylaws make a provision for additional nominations to be fielded from the floor at the congregational meeting. (In the rare occasion that a nomination is fielded from the floor, please ensure you have the nominee’s consent first.)
Here is the slate nominated by the committee to serve a 3-year term on the Vestry:
Alissa Birkel
Alissa and her family began attending The Table in July 2020. She serves in various capacities at The Table including greeting on Sunday mornings, Lay Eucharistic Ministry, preaching, and Bible study. Her professional experience is in process design and implementation, and she currently works at Eli Lilly and Company as a process owner within Global Regulatory Affairs. Her heart, though, is with the church, and she is excited to bring her business experience and her heart for discipleship and social justice to the vestry. Outside of church and Lilly, Alissa enjoys spending time with her husband, Tim, their two sons Sam and Henry, and her friends
Tim began attending The Table two and a half years ago along with his wife Emily. They were searching for and found a church focused on actively living out God’s love as a community. He loves to bake with his wife, read, and recently discovered that vegetables somehow pop out of one’s yard.
Tim Ludden
Tim has worked in IT Management, as an entrepreneur, and most recently decided to make a career switch into Education Program Management at IU. He hopes his administrative and entrepreneurial background can act as a resource on The Vestry to wisely use our resources and help The Table discern what God’s love looks like in our new building. He’s interested in collaborating with the entire Table community to find tangible ways for us to model God’s love to our neighbors while respecting each other’s uniqueness.
In addition to these new Vestry nominees, we will also be voting for our Senior Warden Donna Romack to serve an additional year on Vestry, in order to put us on an optimal schedule where every year two Vestry members end their terms and two new Vestry members start their terms (longer story about why we needed to do this, which we can talk more about at the annual meeting).
So the official slate of nominees is:
- Alissa Birkel (starting a 3-year term)
- Tim Ludden (starting a 3-year term), and
- Donna Romack (serving an additional year as Senior Warden)
If you have any question about this process please reach out to one of our Co-Vicars or Vestry members prior to the Annual Meeting, and thank you for all your engagement throughout this process. See you at our Annual Congregational Meeting Feb 2 at 9am for a fun morning of doing the “business” of the church!
