Church,
We had a beautiful Holy Week together. Three services in the span of four days is a lot more than normal, but each service genuinely felt like a gift. At the end of Sunday’s Easter celebrations, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for this community. Thank you for sharing your lives and who you are with The Table. You are a gift!
Looking back on our Lenten series on Confronting Mammon with Jesus, it’s clear that God is doing something in our midst. So many among us are wrestling with what faithfulness looks like in this present moment and it has been a great reminder to me of the good news that God is present and at work in our midst. It’s not up to us to nail this for God or figure it out so that God can use us. Instead, this walk together is about discerning the Spirit’s work in our midst and it has been a beautiful journey. It’s an honor to be walking alongside you all on it.
Throughout Eastertide and the summer, we are planning to convene a handful of listening sessions where we will continue this discernment process together. Many of you have already begun experiments in confronting Mammon and I am excited to hear how they go and see what we as a church can learn from them by debriefing together. These gatherings will also be FUN! So whether you’ve got ideas about Mammon, never heard of Mammon, or you’re somewhere in between, I hope you’ll be able to join us when we gather!
Let Eastertide and the good times roll!
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit,
Fr. Spencer
P.S. We are planning to schedule a new College of Preachers training session. This is the vehicle for training up preachers and adding people to the preaching team at The Table. If you have an interest in preaching or would like to learn more, please reach out to me, or Frs. Ben or Matt.
