Dear Church,
What a beautiful Sunday we experienced together last Sunday in our new church building. As Fr. Spencer mentioned during the potluck, our move into this new space was really a community effort of the church being the church! We are grateful for the ways you’ve contributed to help us ready for this move. You can check out some photos from Sunday on our Instagram page.
The work on the building will continue. We still need to address flooring needs in the narthex, install a new permanent audio/visual system in the nave (we used a very good temporary outfit last Sunday, shout out to Fr. Ben for assessing and addressing audio needs at the last minute!), repairs to the parking lot, and many other minor repairs and fix-ups are on the docket in the next few weeks and months. So we moved into the building “already and not yet” ready for us to be there.
Now we land and inhabit and discern together: what does our local presence here mean for our mission and identify as a church? In what ways is God calling us to be a people with and for and in this space? Stewardship is a privilege and a responsibility that we are eager to embrace, whatever may come.
In the midst of the ongoing work and never-ending to-do’s it’s a gift to pause and reflect and be grateful. So grateful: for you all and for us all and who God is making us to be. So much of that goodness and beauty was abundant during our first Sunday together. What a gift. Excited for this new season together, beloved.
With joy and gratitude,
Fr. Matt
