On Holy Saturday at 8:30pm, we will gather online for a special Story Night Vigil.
Holy Saturday is the day when Christ was in the depth of the grave, and from the human perspective, all hope is lost. We are still subject to evil and death. It’s a day for walking in the darkness of fear and doubt.
Our response to this as the Church has to tell stories. In the full Easter Vigil we recount “the history of God’s mighty acts and promises…” God’s deliverance of his people throughout the history of the world, and finally in Christ’s victory over death and the grave.
So we will be sharing stories of dark times in our lives… stories of darkness, doubt, despair… and deliverance. (You don’t need to share a story to participate, but we’d love to hear from you!)
We will intersperse these stories with a few elements of the traditional Easter Vigil service, and we will end our evening with the Easter Acclamation and “festal shout” as a definitive word of God’s victory over all darkness, doubt, and despair.
If you plan to attend, please bring:
- A candle to light, and
- A warm (or warming) beverage to drink.
