On Sunday September 1 we start a 7-week emphasis on the Spiritual DNA of The Table. We’ll talk through 7 “axioms” that name the way Jesus perceived and inhabited reality (his paradigm and posture), as well as specific practices that help us see and inhabit the world like Jesus does.
This 7-week emphasis consists of 3 interlocking elements:
- A Weekly Class (9:30am on Sunday mornings), where we will lay out one of the axioms, along with liturgical and discipleship practices associated with the axiom,
- A Sermon Series (during our worship gatherings), where we will proclaim good news related to each axiom, and
- Weekly DNA Groups (online during the week), where you’ll be able to discuss and process how God is at work in your life through the series.
We’d encourage you to participate in all three elements, if possible, as they all function in different ways to facilitate learning and growth.
Here’s the schedule for the series:
- Sep 1 – It’s All About Communion
- Sep 8 – God is Always Present and At Work
- Sep 15 – God is Just Like Jesus
- Sep 22 – God Meets Us Right Where We Really Are
- Sep 29 – God Cares More About (All of) it Than You Do
- Oct 6 – What God Does Through You He Also Does In You
- Oct 13 – We Learn Love Through Embodied Participation

What is a DNA Group? Does it involve giving blood?
You will not be required to give blood to be part of a DNA Group (that was a little joke if you missed it). DNA Groups are where we meet to pay attention in community to what God is doing in our lives. They’re led by people who have been trained to facilitate conversations that help us become more aware of and participate more deeply in the life God shares with us.
How long will these DNA Groups last?
These DNA Groups will last precisely 7 weeks, starting the week of September 1.
What if I’ve already been in a DNA Group?
You can still join one of these DNA Groups! The content will be somewhat familiar, of course, but DNA Groups aren’t about consuming content, they’re about processing what God’s doing in our lives. If God’s still present and at work, it’s worth being in a DNA Group!
When are the DNA Groups meeting?
DNA Group leaders are currently discussing the times and places their groups will meet. Most will be online via video conference during the week. We hope to have a list of groups available this Sunday (Aug 25).
What happens after the 7 weeks?
Who knows? That is to say, some groups may want to continue meeting. Others will be content to stop meeting. Each group can discern what’s next.
Can I come to the class and not be in a DNA Group?
Sure! But again, we’d strongly recommend getting into a DNA Group. You’ll be able to process what God is doing in your life through your interaction with the series, which is a big part of the DNA of The Table!
Can I join a DNA Group and not come to the class?
It wouldn’t make much sense to do this, because the DNA Groups will specifically be discussing the previous Sunday’s class session and sermon.
What about kids?
We are endeavoring to have childcare available during the class sessions. It will help us to know how many kids are coming, though, which leads to the final question:
How do I sign up?
