As you may have noticed from the past few weeks, Fr. Matt and I are increasingly convicted that, for white Christians in America today, an inescapable implication of following Jesus is to actively repent of and resist the systemic racism that has plagued our country for 400 years.
Part of that repentance is to unlearn what we thought we understood about the history of racism and the way it works today.
Fr. Matt recently compiled a list of resources for an anti-racist education, and I commend you to look them over, pick one from the list, and begin reading/listening/watching this week:
As always, please let Fr. Matt or me know if you have questions or ideas about all of this. We are wanting to discern together as a Body how to best respond in Christ’s love, and want to open space for everyone to be able to share questions and learnings with each other. It’s an honor to be community with you in these days!
Grace and peace,
