Dear Church,
One of the ways I see God is at work at The Table is in the relatively large number of people who are called and equipped to proclaim good news in our worship gatherings. We are blessed to have 9 people on our Preaching Team! And though our worship gathering doesn’t revolve around the sermon, I’m very grateful that each one of our preachers brings us the gospel in a unique voice that broadens our perception of what God is doing in our midst.
Last Sunday Nancy Nethercott (our Missionary-in-Residence, soon to be ordained to the Holy Order of Deacons!) preached from John 15:1-8 on abiding in Christ. I would encourage you to this practice imaginative prayer exercise she passed along to us as a practical way to respond to the good news we heard on Sunday. If you’d like more resources or help in this area, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Nancy (nancy@thetableindy.org).
Let’s continue to love one another as we abide in Christ in these days. Here’s a prayer I wrote last week that’s been helping me to abide in God’s love:
A Collect For Remembering We Belong to Each Other
Lord Jesus Christ, in whom all things are held together, lavish your abundant grace upon us that we might remember that we are living members of your Body, connected to one another in far deeper ways than mere affinity, convenience, or personality. May your love overcome our instinct for self-protection, that we might hold each other close in prayer, as you hold us all together in your unity with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
